The short answer: there are always two sums
When you ask what it costs to build a sales team, the answer needs two figures. The first is what the provider will take. The second is what the team itself will cost every month after the provider leaves. The second is several times bigger, and it is the one nobody counts before the start.
Our first figure is published: from $1500 a month, three months minimum, paid monthly in advance for the month ahead. Before that you can take a one-off conversation review — $150 and three working days. You will count the second figure yourself in ten minutes: every component is below, with sources and the date they were checked.
Why pages headed «pricing» carry no price
On 29 August 2026 we opened five agency sites from Google results for queries about the price of a done-for-you sales department. Not one of the five carried a figure. The wordings are similar: «there is no fixed price», «cost is formed after a diagnosis», «call us and we will tell you».
The reason is clear enough: the scope really is different for a beauty salon and for a factory. The consequence for you is just as clear. To compare three providers you have to sit through three forty-minute calls and then wait for proposals. A week to find out the order of magnitude.
Four questions that cut that week down to one message:
- What is your floor in money? Name the minimum sum you take a project for.
- Is that sum per month or for the whole project, and how many months minimum?
- What do I get for the first month? Ask for the list of work by week, with dates.
- What happens if after the first month I say enough?
Whoever answers all four in writing is worth talking to further. Whoever moves the conversation to a video call in order to name a figure is taking your time before the deal has even started.
What the $1500 invoice is made of
For that sum, six things get done on your project every month:
- candidate profile and screening — who you need and how to recognise them at interview;
- the rules of work — what the rep does with an enquiry in the first fifteen minutes and over the next three days;
- records — a funnel in the CRM where a stage stands for an action taken; a rep's mood moves nothing;
- comp plan — what a person gets money for and what they do not;
- oversight — every week we listen to conversations and hand back a list of the places where the money stopped, with a quote and a time code;
- a report for the owner — the numbers that show the team working without you sitting in the chats.
Payment runs monthly in advance for the month ahead. We do not take the whole term up front. Say enough after the first month and you will have paid for one month.
The do-it-yourself bill for August 2026
Now the second figure. Every number below we opened ourselves on 29 August 2026, with the sources named alongside.
- Sales rep — a median of UAH 40,000 a month across Ukraine, UAH 50,000 in Kyiv. Work.ua, August 2026, calculated across 11,622 vacancies. The figure is up 14% over the year.
- Head of sales — a median of UAH 75,000, calculated across 639 vacancies, same source. Plus 15% over the year.
- Taxes on top: the employer charges 22% social contribution above the salary. Personal income tax at 18% and the military levy at 5% are withheld from the salary itself (2026 rates, SMARTFIN.UA, March 2026).
- CRM — $19 a month for the basic KeyCRM plan, with no limit on the number of users (keycrm.app/pricing, checked 29.08.2026).
- A phone system that records every conversation — $26 a month for the Lite plan and $47 for Pro at Binotel (binotel.com/tariffs, checked 29.08.2026).
- Your time. Work out your own hour in money and multiply by the hours that go every week into other people's chat threads and into listening to recordings.
Adding up. Two reps — UAH 48,800 each including social contribution. A head of sales — UAH 91,500. That is UAH 189,100 of payroll a month, about $4,200 at the National Bank rate at the end of August 2026 (UAH 44.55 to the dollar). The services add up to $70 more. That sum goes out every month, and whether you sold anything this month does not affect it.
And one more line of cost that never makes it into calculations like this: a bad hire. A rep who worked two months and left cost you around UAH 98,000 in salary plus two months of an unhandled flow of enquiries.
What moves the sum in both directions
- How many people already sell. An owner on their own and three reps with a head of sales are different amounts of work.
- Whether recordings of conversations and chat threads exist. With no recordings, part of the first month goes on making them appear.
- How many enquiry sources the company has. One website is simpler than a website, two messengers, a marketplace and cold calling.
- The length of a deal. A decision made in one touch and a decision that takes six weeks need different records and different oversight.
- How much time the owner gives. Two or three hours a week from your side shorten the timeline; zero hours stretch it.
Why three months minimum
Month one is the profile, screening, the rules and the records. Month two is people working while we listen to conversations and fix what broke. Month three is where numbers appear that can already be compared with what was there before the start. A one-month project is easy to sell; it just ends with a set of documents and not a single measurement.
The $150 way in, when building is still early
A conversation review costs $150 and takes three working days. You send the recordings and get back a list of the places where the money stopped: the quote, the time code, who was speaking and what that moment cost. The decision after that is yours. Half of what turns up there gets fixed by your own team the following week, with no build and with no involvement from us.
A review has the right to end with nothing. If we hear there is nothing to work on, that is what we will say.
A checklist before you pay anyone
- The price floor named in writing, before any video call.
- It is stated what period that sum covers and how many months minimum.
- There is a list of work by week for the first month.
- Payment is monthly: the whole term does not have to be paid up front.
- It is written down how you leave the project and what stays with you when you do.
- There is no guarantee of a specific percentage of sales growth — such a guarantee cannot be given.
- You have counted your second sum: payroll, taxes, services, your own time.
